Happy “RAGING” Friday Folks,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful Rec coaches! (insert pictures) We appreciate their love, passion, dedication and commitment to create a fun and enjoyable environment for our boys and girls – THANK YOU!

TRYOUTS

We are excited with this year’s turn out of nearly 1000 players! FANTASTIC!! We are still inviting NEW players to tryout. If you or your team are asked to attend ‘another’ tryout it is so that we have enough players to test the NEW individuals with. We are not re-testing you. Your spot is secure! As a coach we need numbers to run a session. This also gives the trialist an opportunity to see the level of play. This post tryout process is very normal, and we’d appreciate your help fielding enough players.

LEAGUE LISTING/TEAM NAMING

We are still in the early stages of league placement for our ECNL-RL teams (1 month process), then the NPL then the WFPL (tiered) and then the USA league.

BRSC TRAINING GEAR

Some of you already have the link in SPOND, and can go ahead and order the new training gear! We are rolling this out team by team, so check SPOND for more info. Our new training colors will be: GREY shirt, BLACK shorts and BLACK socks. Shin pads - a mandatory and minimum standard to be worn during every practice. For the new players that must order the game gear, you will be issued a series of available numbers. For example, A & B team will likely have a number range 0-36 so in the event there is player movement one way or another we can avoid number conflicts.

FUNDRAISING

Teams will have an opportunity to fundraise on their own through various programs and companies. Fundraising helps offset your regular costs (tournaments, player fees, equipment, off set coach’s hotel, travel and food costs) to play soccer!

TEAM MANAGERS

Some teams are still looking for team managers. This role is a volunteer position to help support the coach with hotel bookings, collecting tournament fees to cover tournaments costs, coach’s hotel, travel and food costs. If you are interested, please talk to your coach and Gemma Gallaway so she can get you the documentation necessary to sign up.

TOURNAMENTS

BRADEN RIVER SC THANKSGIVING CUP – Nov 24-26th

Mark your calendars Folks! We are excited to announce our very own tournament this year! All of our teams will participate and support our very own RAGE event! All proceeds will go towards the running of your club. We will not only pay the operating costs but also raise money for scholarship funds! Helping those who cannot afford to play and give them the opportunity to play! More information to come, stay tuned!

Your RAGE Leadership has identified tournaments specific to each age and stage. These tournaments will be presented to you at your respective team meetings. As part of our culture change, here are our age-based goals:

U8-U11

Play to have FUN! Shared playing time is a must. Positional rotation strongly encouraged. Learning to enjoy in a safe, fun yet learning environment is key! Winning IS NOT the focus! DEVELOPMENT IS YOUR WINNING FOCUS!

U12-U14

U12-U14 will prepare to play within our RAGE Player Development Model in mind. Winning is not the be all and end all but applying your development toward ‘winning’ is important. You will lose while at it! This is part of your development process – if you LEARN FROM YOUR LOSS and grow from it, then you know you are on the right track!

U15-U19

Play to WIN! Playing time is not guaranteed in tournaments! Applying all four pillars (technical, physical, tactical and psychological) as a team, controlling what you can control and working hard will lead you in the right direction! You don’t have to be the most talented as long as you are the HARDEST WORKING player/team, this is the new RAGE WAY!!

ECNL-RL Championships – We are proud to share our 2010G, 2009G and 2008G have qualified for the ECNL Regional CHAMPIONSHIPS being held in Greensboro and Browns Summit, NC June 16-18. If any of our teams advance, they will head to Richmond, VA to play in the ECNL Regional FINALS July 14-17th.

We would also like to recognize our 2008B who have also qualified for the ECNL-RL Championship FINALS held in Norco, CA July 14-17th, 2023.

SUMMER CAMPS

A reminder to please take advantage of our specialized camp program as early as this summer!

1. Goal Keeping & Striker Camp, July 10-13: (register here)

Will be led by Gjoko Tasevski our RAGE GK Director and Neathan Gibson our GM helping our future understand the importance of both roles.

2. Functional Camp, June 5-8: (register here)

Geared toward helping players better understand how to play in each third of the field no matter the formation/s taught by their coaches. Our Staff will share what, how, why and when the different phases of play (Defending, attacking, transition) impact the game.

3. Technical Camp, June 19-22: (register here)

Designed with purpose and focus on ‘touch’, ball mastery and control with and without pressure. Learning how a player’s technical touch and technical decision can impact the game both negatively (bad habits) or positively (good habits).

4. Conditioning Camp, during July, every Tues/Thurs: (register here)

We are looking to use this camp to help our athletes understand the importance of getting in shape, staying in shape and why its important to stretch improving flexibility. This camp will run by a Soccer Specific physical trainer from Parish HS. He will run players through various exercises! We encourage our athletes to sign up and take advantage of this camp to aid their preseason fitness!

5. Recreational Camp, July 24-27: (register here)

Braden River SC is sensitive in providing a safe, healthy and fun filled environment for our future “Messi’s”! This camp is designed for all levels that just want to get out and enjoy the game while learning good habits playing the game!
